Does NIPT Test Require Preparation? Fasting, Food, and Medication Guide

NIPT is a Genetic Analysis, Not a Biochemical Test

Good news: NIPT requires virtually no preparation. No fasting, no dietary changes.

Is Fasting Required?

No. NIPT analyzes DNA, not sugar or cholesterol. You can have breakfast before the test.

Medications and NIPT

  • Prenatal vitamins: No effect whatsoever.
  • Progesterone: No effect.
  • Thyroid medications: No effect.
  • Blood thinners: No effect on results, but may cause bruising. Inform the nurse.

What to Do Before the Test

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Wear comfortable clothing with easy sleeve access.
  • Prepare a list of your medications.

Omega Çare: No Preparation, Just an Appointment

With Omega Çare, you choose the time that works for you. Fasting or fed, morning or evening — all acceptable.
